Baton Rouge, La — Catherine Hopkins, director for the LSU Women’s Center, has resigned her position to become executive director for the Capital Area Family Violence Intervention Center/Battered Women’s Program.
“We appreciate the leadership that Catherine provided to the LSU Women’s Center,” said Katrice Albert, vice provost for Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach. “During her tenure, she maintained the level of quality programming efforts expected of the center. She was responsible for hosting the Louisiana Women’s Summit, a statewide leadership conference for women; enhancing leadership opportunities for women students; and building coalitions with civic minded organizations focused on the quality of life for women. We wish her the very best.”
Pending approval, a national search will be conducted over the summer months and a new leader will be named in August. The search committee led by Marco Barker, assistant to the vice provost and director of educational equity, will comprise faculty, staff and students, whose interests and foci include student life and development, women’s and gender studies, faculty and staff development and equity, and diversity.
“With excitement, we are looking forward to the ribbon cutting ceremony and moving into the newly constructed LSU Women’s Center in the fall semester,” said Albert.
