Baton Rouge, La — This year, three seniors from East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) high schools won 2012 National Merit $2,500 Scholarships:
-William M. Cassidy of McKinley High School from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for a possible career in Public Policy
-Kalle L. Liimatta of Baton Rouge Magnet High School from the Corporation for a possible career in Biochemistry
-Alyssa N. Moore of Baton Rouge Magnet High School from the Corporation for a possible career in Biomedical Engineering.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation chose 2,500 Merit Scholar designees from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists this year. Of those, 32 were from Louisiana. Winners from each state were judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential success in rigorous college studies. Scholarship awards can be used at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.
