PONCHATOULA, LA — Readers seeking spiritual self-help or relationship advice can take refuge in a thought-provoking and challenging story of pride and humility, betrayal and forgiveness, and judgment and mercy in the new release, “Good Mourning Sunshine.”
“Good Mourning Sunshine” is written by first-time Louisiana author Angela Quezada Bertone.
“A spiritual earthquake destroyed the very foundation of who I was, forcing me to face the truth. God has taught me that when you grieve and go through pain, you wake up; and in waking up, I learned new things about myself and about God. I was forced to look at my own self-righteousness and religious pride,” Bertone said.
“The title of the book would make a reader think it’s just about mourning, but it’s not,” she said. “The book takes readers on a non-traditional spiritual journey, allowing them to eavesdrop on my conversations with God, and to share my emotional roller coaster ride.”
Bertone has been called a “spiritual cardiologist” as a result of her teachings at many spiritual retreats for women who have suffered the loss of children or spouses.
She does not discuss or ascribe to any one faith or another, making her book a good read for church groups or persons of any denomination, as well as any book club.
“It all began one morning while I was driving to work. God clearly said to me, ‘In the mourning, you wake up,’” she said, adding that God explained that she would only know how much she loved her children if he took them from her.
“I was afraid that something bad was going to happen,” she said, “but God assured me that he only wanted me to think about things differently so I would draw closer to him, and in turn, share my understanding with others.”
As a result, Bertone self-published “Good Mourning Sunshine” and released it through Amazon.com. On a Valentine’s Day promotion of the e-book, “Good Mourning Sunshine” reached fourth in e-book spiritual inspirational reads and ninth in overall Amazon book sales.
The book is now available in paperback for $14.99 on her website, www.angelabertone.com , most online bookstores, and at the Sonlife Christian Bookstore in Hammond, La. The Kindle version is available on her website or Amazon for $5.99.
Bertone is a businesswoman, wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, and local speaker who resides in Ponchatoula, La. She can be contacted at www.angelabertone.com .
