Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Recovery School District Superintendent Patrick Dobard is trying to implement a new way to help kids in under-performing schools.
He's working with RSD officials to create a new "Baton Rouge Achievement Zone".
This zone will focus on the 20 schools in zip codes 70805, 70802, and 70806. Examples of these are schools like Istrouma High and Capitol High.
Dobard says the common thread in these schools' poor performance is poverty.
