Iberville Parish, La (NBC33) — S.E. Tylose is planning to invest $120 million dollars in a plant at the Shintech site in Plaquemine.
The plant will make a product mainly for latex paints.
The move will bring in 30 direct jobs. Those jobs have a salary of $58,000 dollars a year plus benefits.
State officials say a little more than 290 indirect jobs will come to the Baton Rouge area because of the plant.
“Last month showed more people in Louisiana working than any other time before in our states history. Unemployment numbers continue to be below the national and southern average; per capita income continues to improve,” stated Governor Bobby Jindal. “Today’s announcement is one more step towards providing good-paying jobs for our kids right here in Louisiana.”
Construction will start by the end of the year. The first jobs are expected to be filled by early 2013.
