Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — State troopers want you to bring unused medication to four different stations in Baton Rouge for "Drug Take Back" Saturday.
Those toopers say the initiative is to help locals rid their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused prescription drugs.
People were pouring in to State Police Troop A to dispose of drugs that have been sitting unnoticed in cabinets.
Troopers say the service is free and anonymous, and no requests for identification will be made. They say these events help keep kids off drugs.
"That prescription medication is not always abused by the person its prescribed to, but when you have a teen who has easy access to those pills and curiosity, you mix those two things, and it can be deadly, " said Trooper Russell Graham.
