BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — Preparations are already being made for the "Bicentennial Family Homecoming". Festivities kick off tomorrow at eleven a.m. at Capitol Park and celebrations continue through Monday. It'll feature live music and cooking demonstrations. It'll also have great food from all across the Bayou State.
"This is a big deal. This is a big deal. Our bicentennial is no joke. People in Louisiana being the 18th state, being the sentinels of the Mississippi River and the natural resources of the Gulf of Mexico. People depend on us to get it right. Provide those natural resources, great food and culture," says Chairman of the Louisiana Bicentennial Commission Russel Honore.
The event will also feature crawfish and an adult obstacle course. And on Monday stars like James Carville, Irma Thomas, Faith Ford and Cokie Roberts will join lawmakers for a joint legislative session celebrating Louisiana's 200th birthday.
