ST. CHARLES PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A St. Charles Parish Man was arrested on Monday, April 23 after he failed a field sobriety test and his blood alcohol content registered over the legal limit. He faces additional charges because his passenger was his 8-year-old daughter.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries made the arrest. They say Darren McGovern, 25, of Norco was observed by an agent driving erratically on Airline Highway while crossing the Bonnet Carre Spillway. The agent pulled McGovern over after noticing him throw a white plastic grocery bag out of his window.
The agent conducted a field sobriety test on McGovern, and they say he failed the test. Then, his blood alcohol also registered above the legal limit.
This is the second time McGovern has been arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. However, he also faces additional charges for violating Child Endangerment Laws. McGovern’s passenger was his 8-year-old daughter.
McGovern was then booked into the St. Charles Parish Correctional Facility for Second Offense DWI and Intentional Littering and Child Endangerment.
A second offense DWI brings a fine between $750 and $1,000 and 30 days to six months in jail. Intentional littering carries a $250 fine and eight hours of community service in a litter abatement work program.
