Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Crestworth Learning Academy in Baton Rouge needs to make up a budget shortfall for the 2011 school year.
This is according to their board of supervisors.
Board Director Jesse Bilberry Jr. Says the middle school is having to make adjustments to finish out their fiscal year on June thirtieth.
Board members say the school has lost up to 96 students. Parents took them out of Crestworth.
The board is considering cutting salaries for teachers and other faculty by 20 percent.
Teachers say they're fine with the cuts, but they should've been told much sooner.
"We have not had the success that we've wanted to have at Crestworth because of discipline and other problems, and a few financial problems," said Board of Supervisors Chairman, Jesse Bilberry Jr.
"You're responsible for handling money, and you're responsible for having knowledge of where money is going, where it is coming in, how did you not know?" said A Crestworth Teacher, April Jackson.
