Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Orleans - Police say two men approached a school bus and started shooting as the students aboard were headed home from classes Thursday. Authorities say the shooting happened at Annunciation and Second streets. The bus driver sped away and finally stopped at St. Charles and Napoleon avenues. No one was shot, but officials said a 15-year-old girl was hit by shattered glass and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
Caddo- a teacher at green oaks high school was arrested for simple battery of a student. Sheriff Steve Prator says 48 year old Alvin Wallace is accused of physically removing a 15-year-old female student from his classroom on March 6. The girl was reportedly being disruptive and Wallace asked her to leave his classroom. He then forcefully removed her from the class, causing her to fall against a classroom door on the opposite side of the hallway.
Richland- Officials with Poverty Point State Park are encouraging La. State Park visitors to use the new free Pocket Ranger park app. It allows you to access information such as upcoming events, weather conditions and safety alert communications. The app has enhanced user navigation, detailed park maps and an interactive gps.
East Baton Rouge- Woodlawn High School band's percussion ensemble may look blue but they're not feeling "blue" after placing second in a league championship. They were dressed head-to-toe in bright-blue, spandex costumes at the Louisiana Color Guard and Percussion Circuit's League championship. They were dressed in blue to represent water for the competition theme "H20."
