NBC NATIONAL NEWS — American Airlines plans to eliminate 1200 non-union jobs to help reduce its cost while under bankruptcy protection.
The nation's third largest airlines says it plans to cut the airport baggage and cargo jobs along with closing a reservations center in Arizona. It’s all part of an effort to trim its annual labor cost by $1.25 billion.
Officials say they will also outsource jobs at 7 U.S. airports and two in Canada as they prepare to present their restructuring plan in bankruptcy court next week in New York.
The announcement brings the number of planned job cuts at American Airlines to more than 14,000.
