Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council has teamed up with BREC to host a Youth Fitness Challenge in an effort to fight childhood obesity, as well as promote active and healthy living among Baton Rouge youth. Not only will this exciting event feature a series of physical activities, it will also give the youth a chance to give back to their community by addressing issues such as childhood hunger and environmental awareness.
Youth participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and will complete a few park cleanup projects, including painting pavilion poles.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the BREC Scotlandville Parkway Park, located near the intersection of 72nd Avenue and Howell Place Boulevard (adjacent to the ExxonMobil YMCA). Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
