SORRENTO,La (AP) The Sorrento Town Council has introduced two ordinances placing restrictions on "sexually oriented businesses" within town limits.
According to the proposed ordinances, the laws are designed to
regulate adult bookstores, novelty stores, video stores, cabarets
and motels.
The first ordinance amends the town's zoning law to set where
the business can be located.
The second ordinance places special licensing requirements on
such businesses.
Town officials say that owners of such businesses would have to apply for a license through the town clerk, the police department would run a background check and the town council would issue the license.
The businesses would also have to pay an annual licensing fee of
$25.
