NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Alabama's top running back last year showed off his moves and his heart Saturday night. Trent Richardson escorted a young cancer survivor to her high school prom.
Trent Richardson went with Courtney Alvis to the Hueytown High School prom. He opened the door for Alvis and they walked arm in arm inside the event.
Richardson says several members of his family have suffered with the same disease. He wanted to take Courtney to prom because of her courage to fight cancer.
"What she went through, it means a lot to me,” Richardson said. “It shows that everybody around her town, around her community, there's a lot of favor going on and a lot of praying and she's humble about the situation. She's been good about it and she has been fighting it and she's here with us today. So, it made me proud."
