PONCHATOULA, LA — The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is winding down after a weekend of family fun. An estimated 400,000 people attended the 3 day festival.
The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is the second largest festival in Louisiana behind Mardi Gras and is held in Ponchatoula, La.
The strawberry is Louisiana's state fruit and the state is one of the largest producers in the nation.
For over 30 years, the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival has provided a venue as the largest fundraiser for non-profit and charitable organizations. The festival prides itself as being one of the only festivals in which non-profit organizations are the only vendors on the official festival grounds.
Louisiana has nearly 400 acres of strawberries producing 850,000 flats per year, valued at $14 million.
