BATON ROUGE, LA — Woman’s announced yesterday, Thursday, April 12, that a decision has been made to delay the opening of its new hospital.
“Because of concerns about the new hospital’s level of completion, we have decided to postpone the patient move originally scheduled for June 3, 2012. A key component of our transition plan was to start staff training at the new site on April 16, but the building is not ready for that training to begin. We will not jeopardize patient, physician or employee safety by expediting or abbreviating training, so we must postpone our move,” explained Teri Fontenot, Woman’s President and CEO. “Our goal is to provide an exceptional patient experience the moment we open, and by delaying our move we feel we can better meet the expectations of our patients.”
Woman’s is working with its construction team to develop a revised completion schedule. This is expected to be completed by the week of April 23, and Woman’s will announce a new move date at that time.
