LAFAYETTE, LA — On April 10, 2012, at approximately 2:14 p.m., Lafayette Police were called to a local hospital regarding a two year old female patient showing signs of abuse. Investigators discovered that the child had been in the custody of the mother’s boyfriend, Jacob Roche, 20, earlier that morning at a residence in the 100 block of Grand Avenue.
While in Roche’s care the child was allegedly shaken. The child was transported to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Roche was interviewed by investigators and later charged with Second-Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile. The incident remains under investigation by the Lafayette Police Department’s Youth Services Section.
