Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — A rally for food trucks by food trucks!
The Tin Roof Brewery was the place for fans of Baton Rouge's rolling restaurants.
They all showed up to show their support ahead of tomorrow's Metro Council meeting.
Tomorrow, the council will discuss a new ordinance that'll slap the mobile vendors with new regulations.
Some food truck operators call silly and pointless.
"I think it's kind of a hard thing for these catering trucks to get a written agreement from different owners of parking lots,” stated William Wells, a catering company owner. “I do agree that they need to carry the right insurance to be able to park anywhere and be liable for what they're doing. But, I like the food truck movement."
Councilman Bourgeois says the new regulations are to cut down on liability risks.
Food truck fans have taken to Facebook to rally against them, and hundreds have joined the fight. An online petition has also been created to collect signatures of those who are against the proposed ordinance.
