Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Renovations are complete for a downtown Baton Rouge attraction.
Baton Rouge officials came together for a ribbon cutting ceremony at North Boulevard Town Square today.
Town Square is a one acre green space near North Boulevard and Third Street. The area features lots of tables and benches, lighted walkways and water works.
The area is part of the city's Riverfront Master Plan Project. Mayor Kip Holden says he got ideas the park by listening to what residents say would better downtown.
"Many of us have gone to other cities and we've come back to Baton Rouge and you've asked the question ‘Why don't we have something like that in that city?’ You see now that if you believe in it, make a commitment to it, and go after it, we can change anything in Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish," said Holden.
The North Boulevard Town Square also features its own CATS Bus Station and a monitor that displays real-time GPS tracking for those buses.
