BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — UPDATE: The Baton Rouge Police Department clarified the arrests and future arrest possibilities regarding the drug related home robbery. The suspect who is currently in critical condition is not currently charged, but should his condition improve and he survive the incident, he will be arrested as well.
Regarding the victims who were allegedly part of an arranged drug deal, they have not been charged at this time. However, BRPD Detectives are still receiving information on the case that could potentially lead to drug related charges in the future for all parties involved.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Baton Rouge Police Department has released new details regarding a shooting that occurred during a robbery in Baton Rouge this weekend.
On Saturday, April 7 Police responded to a home  in the 5000 block of Arialo Street in Baton Rouge. When they arrived they learned that two men carrying guns attempted to rob the home. One of the victims fought with one of the suspects. During the struggle the gun was fired, hitting a 22-year-old suspect.
Later that evening the Baker Police Department responded to a shooting injury. That’s when they learned that the individual was involved with the shooting that occurred on Arialo Street.
According to officials the robbery seems to be drug related. The victims had arranged a drug deal with the suspects. When the suspects arrived at the home, they proceeded to rob the victims, which is when the shooting occurred.
The suspect who was shot still remains in critical condition.
The other suspect was identified as Chauncy Carter, 32 , of Zachary. Carter was later booked into EBRSO Prison for Armed Robbery, Attempted First-Degree Murder, and Illegal use of a Weapon.
Police say they do not anticipate any further arrests in this case.
