BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — It's a big day for Internet shoppers. Cyber Monday draws a huge number of people to online sales, but shoppers beware.
Make sure the site you're buying from is the real deal. Before you start putting any sort of personal information online, like credit card numbers, check the screen for a little padlock. It's an easy way to make sure the site is secure.
Jim Stalls with the Better Business Bureau says people should know where the company they're buying from. Also, watch out for the usual holiday scams, like winning money from a lottery you didn't enter or giving to an unfamiliar charity.
Scams aren't the only things to worry about. Shoppers should do a little research on their favorite stores to make sure they're familiar with the return policies.
A little extra work will go a long way this holiday season.
