NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Virginia Beach firefighters had their hands full after a Navy jet crash set several apartment buildings aflame.
There are still no reports of casualties on the ground from the crash, though several buildings were clearly heavily damaged.
The F-18 jet went down shortly after 11:00 a.m. not long after taking off from the naval base in Virginia Beach.
Both the pilot and co-pilot ejected safely and were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Fire officials say the jet was on a training mission.
