BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A local business is cleaning up today after an early morning fire destroyed a portion of its building.
Winbourne Grocery caught fire just before 6:00 a.m. The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to the call and it took nearly an hour before the blaze was extinguished.
We’re told investigators believe the fire began in the rear of the building near the walk-in coolers. The damage was contained to the back of the building in a store room and kitchen area.
Although the store was closed at the time of the fire, investigators do not suspect foul play at this time. However, they have not released an official cause for the incident.
An estimated $20,000 worth of damage was done.
