BATON ROUGE,LA(NBC33) — Child advocates on the steps of the State Capitol today. They're trying to raise awareness on child abuse and neglect here in Louisiana.
One of those groups was the Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASA.
The group called on community members to play a larger role in the lives of foster children.
"Children in Louisiana, particularly children in foster care and children who have been abused and neglected. We really need to remain vigilant in serving their needs, whether its through the legislative session or throughout the state with our community programs," says Executive Director of Louisiana CASA Association Dr. John Wyble.
CASA has two thousand volunteers in Louisiana. They represent more than 4,000 children.
