NEW ORLEANS, LA (NBC33) — Just when you think a free concert couldn’t get any better, it does.
For fans in New Orleans yesterday it was the surprise of a lifetime. Not only was music icon Jimmy Buffett showing his support for New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton by wearing a “Free Sean Payton” shirt on stage, he then took it a step further and invited him on stage to play the bongos.
The show was part of a three day series of performances held in Woldenberg Park. New Orleans-native Jane Right was one of the thousands at that event, and she says it was a moment unlike any other and she was glad she caught the whole thing on camera and posted it to YouTube.
“It was great and the fans really loved it,” Right told NBC33 News. “Too bad I didn’t keep the video going because everyone started chanting ‘free Sean Payton’ until he left the stage. And then they all started the ‘who dat’ cheer.”
Right attended the event on Sunday, April 1 with her husband who has attended all of the games thus far. She says the whole weekend has been a great experience and there have been no problems regarding the influx of fans into the city.
“All the fans from out of town have been really great,” she said. “The crows have been really contained, and everyone has had a good time.”
