BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The executive assistant to the Louisiana librarian is in police custody and facing literally hundreds of charges.
Alison Foster turned herself into police earlier this afternoon.
They tell us she had been using company credit cards and checkbooks that were supposed to be used for small company purchases to buy things for herself.
She embezzled more than $100-thousand of the company's money.
The Baton Rouge Police Department says they've seen this before.
"Its not unusual for us to have internal theft cases that go on for an extended period of time and sometimes reach into very large dollar amounts, particularly if the individual is entrusted by the organization to maintain the checkbook or to maintain the credit card," Sgt. Don Kelly, Baton Rouge Police Department, explained.
Foster is facing about 260 charges, including forgery and theft of an access card.
