NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Mitt Romney gets a key endorsement today from the President George H.W. Bush, a welcome distraction from the latest revelation of romney's wealth: A four-car garage he was building at his San Diego home with an elevator for each car.
On Wednesday Rick Santorum, bowling for the third time in four days, called Romney "completely out of sync" with America, but also said he'd sign on as Romney's running mate if asked.
"Mitt Romney's problems are Mitt Romney's problems like my problems are mine. We deal with them," Santorum said.
Newt Gingrich, meanwhile, is shaking up his campaign.
He's laying off a third of his staff and dramatically cutting back his schedule.
Gingrich says it's a bare bones strategy to grab the nomination if Romney doesn't get enough delegates.
