NBC News — President Obama met one-on-one with the leader of Turkey tuesday along the sidelines of Seoul's nuclear safety meeting. This isn't the first meeting the President has had with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two agreed on sunday to beef up non-lethal aid to Syrian demonstrators.
Turkey borders Syria and has been a vocal opponent against embattled President Bashar Al-Assad's crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators. The United Nations says well over 8000 people have died in the Syrian government's crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators. Activists say that figure is actually much higher.
