BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — East Baton Rouge Parish has a new coroner tonight. Dr. William Beau Clark was sworn in earlier today.
He beat out the incumbent, Shannon Clark by a little more than two thousand votes back in November.
Doctor Clark says the biggest challenge is investigating all the death in the parish, simply because there are so many.
“Challenge is the volume, we have a huge parish, we're the largest parish in the state so by the numbers alone one percent of our population died annually, so that's a large number of deaths to investigate, but we're up for it we're up for the challenge,” Dr. Clark said today.
Clark says he's been at work since the November election making today's transition as smooth as possible.
