BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A 16-year-old died in a car accident that happened early Sunday, March 25. Investigators with the Baton Rogue Police Department are currently working to determine whether the driver will face charges.
The accident happened at 4:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Oak Villa. Officials say the accident was a single-car crash and five people were in the vehicle. They say the vehicle collided with a tree after loosing control for unknown reasons.
Of the five in the vehicle one was pronounced dead at the scene, Julio Gomez-Dominguez, 16. We’re told he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
A toxicology report is currently being processed. So far detectives believe speeding to be the cause of the crash.
The driver and other occupants of the vehicle suffered moderate to serious injuries and are expected to survive.
The driver of the vehicle could face criminal charges.
