BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich here in the capitol city tonight in hopes of gaining last minute votes before Saturday's primary.
Gingrich took part in a debate on LSU's campus sponsored by the school's College Republicans and The Baton Rouge Tea Party.
The presidential candidate came fully prepared with jokes about the other candidates, especially ones bashing Mitt Romney.
Gingrich says no matter what the issue the Republican Party can only have one focus and it should not be the other Republican candidates.
"Currently Running, Ron Paul, Romney, Santorum," said Gingrich, "... that we would all go agree that we have one common goal that is to beat Barak Obama. "
Earlier today, Gingrich had lunch at a seafood restaurant in Louisiana.
Gingrich campaigning heavily in Louisiana all week.
A recent poll shows Rick Santorum taking Louisiana holding double digit leads over the other three candidates.
