BATON ROUGE (NBC33) — Before her interview with the East Baton Rouge School Board, Dr. Maria Pitre-Martin toured Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet Tuesday afternoon.
It's a familiar place for Pitre-Martin, she supervised the school when she was worked for the East Baton Rouge School system. Sherwood's prinicipal and student ambassadors gave her the guided tour.
Pitre-Martin talked about what she sees as the top priority that the parish schools are facing.
"Certainly to ensure that all schools are at a certain standard and level of quality," Pitre-Martin said. "We know, according to test scores, that we have several schools that certainly need to be pushed and rapidly. That certainly needs to be addressed."
Pitre-Martin was later given a tour of the Dufrocq School, also.
