NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Six people were injured on Saturday, March 17 when their car was hit by a light rail train that was on a test run through downtown Los Angeles.
Witnesses say the driver of the black Mercedes ran the stop light just before crossing the rail tracks in the train's path.
Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get the driver out of the car.
He is in serious condition at a Los Angeles hospital.
The other five people in the car were also transported to hospitals with various injuries.
The conductor was the only person on the train - he was not injured.
