Baton Rouge, La — Three coaches of LSU men's teams - Les Miles, Trent Johnson and Paul Mainieri - along with vice chancellor and director of athletics Joe Alleva, have each contributed $1,000 in an effort to allow LSU students to gain free admission to the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, which starts on Sunday afternoon at the Maravich Assembly Center.
Due to restrictions, LSU students are not permitted complimentary admission for NCAA Tournament events. As a result, the three coaches, along with Alleva, have decided to pay the admission for LSU students to attend the event free of charge.
LSU students will be admitted free of charge for games on Sunday and Tuesday. To gain free admission, LSU students must show their LSU ID upon entering the arena. LSU students will enter the Maravich Center using the upper northeast portal, which is the same entrance they use during the regular season.
The NCAA Tournament at the Maravich Center features two games on Sunday and one contest on Tuesday night. On Sunday, Penn State faces Texas-El Paso at 4:15 p.m. followed by the LSU-San Diego State contest at approximately 6:30. The two winners will square off on Tuesday night at 8:30.
