NBC NATIONAL NEWS — New research proves the old saying "Home is where the heart is" is true, according to a report from the American Heart Association.
Experts say people that live near recreational areas with safe and easy access to walking trails and parks have healthier hearts.
Also, those who live near grocery stores and farmer markets have more opportunities to get nutritious food.
Researchers at Northwestern University studied more than 6,000 adults for the project. They say community gardens and lighted sidewalks also add to the health and physical activity of a neighborhood.
