NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Whether you love to eat steak or just a good old hamburger, a new study shows eating read meat could increase your risk of death.
The study published in the archives of internal medicine looked at the eating habits of more than one hundred thousand men and women for nearly thirty years.
Researchers found those who ate one serving of red meat each day had a twelve percent increased risk of death.
The risk was higher for those who ate mostly processed red meat like bacon, sausage and hot dogs.
However, experts say swapping one serving of red meat for fish, poultry, nuts or low-fat dairy can lower that risk.
