NBC NATIONAL NEWS — According to a new study from the National Center for Health Statistics, a third of families in the U.S. have trouble paying medical bills.
The group surveyed more than 50,000 Americans in the beginning of 2011.
Researchers found a 25 percent of Americans were paying medical bills off over time, and 10 percent had bills they couldn't pay at all.
People who were referred to themselves as poor reported the most trouble paying medical debt, along with those under the age of 65.
