Nominee for Player/Freshman of the Week

Ashley Langoni, LF, Sr., Pueblo, Colo.
Langoni produced hits in three of four games as LSU played a quartet of contests against 2011 Women's College World Series opponents. She batted .357 for the week and matched a career-high with three hits at No. 23 Oklahoma State. Langoni also notched hits in both of LSU's tilts versus Oklahoma All-American Keilani Rickets.

Nominee for Pitcher of the Week

Rachele Fico, P, Jr., Oxford, Conn.
Fico surrendered only one earned run over 16.2 innings of work as LSU faced off with No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 23 Oklahoma State, a pair of 2011 Women's College World Series opponents. Her season ERA is a minuet 0.38 ratio. Fico entered the Oklahoma State game in the toughest of situations with the bases loaded and got Cowgirls clean-up hitter Julie Ward to strike out looking to secure the 7-4 win. It was her eighth career save which vaulted her into sole possession of second place on LSU's all-time list. In both of her starts, Fico received zero runs of support and was handed two hard-luck losses.

Notes on the Tigers
LSU had its season's best six game winning streak come to a close as the Tigers played a quartet of contests against No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 23 Oklahoma State, a pair of 2011 Women's College World Series participants. The Tigers did secure a 7-4 triumph over No. 23 Oklahoma State for head coach Beth Torina's first win over a Top 25 opponent at LSU. Kailey McCasland turned in a 2-for-2 performance, blasted her first career home run and drove home a career-high three RBIs. McCasland along with fellow freshmen Rikki Alcaraz and Dylan Supak accounted for five of the team's seven runs. Lauren Houston tallied a 2-for-2 effort her own and added a RBI. Rachele Fico entered the game during the seventh inning in the most difficult of situations. With the bases loaded, Fico fanned the only batter she faced, Cowgirls clean-up hitter Julie Ward, to close out the win. She picked up her eighth career save to vault into second place on LSU's all-time list. In her two starts, Fico was dealt a pair of tough-luck losses where she received zero runs of support. She surrendered just one earned run in her 16.2 innings of work and her season ERA is a paltry 0.38 ratio. Ashley Langoni matched a career-high three hits in the final game of the weekend at No. 23 Oklahoma State and batted a team-high .357 for the weekend. For the season, LSU is outscoring its opponents by an impressive 57-8 margin during its 10 wins. The Tigers meet Nicholls State [Wednesday 6 p.m.] before playing host to Troy and Mississippi Valley State at the Purple & Gold Challenge.
