BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) - — There’s a new member of the LSU Women’s Basketball team as head coach Nikki Caldwell gave birth to her first child, a baby girl, Justice Simone Fargas. Justice was born at 5:44 a.m. and weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
Mom and baby are doing well according to a press release by LSU. The father is Caldwell’s long time boyfriend Justin Fargas, a former NFL running back.
“We are doing great and excited about this beautiful moment in our lives," said Caldwell. "Being a mother has always been a dream of mine. Justin and I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of support from our LSU family and fans. I will be back on the court soon."
The Lady Tigers are expected to receive a high seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament in which they will host the first and second rounds in the Maravich Center.
