NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Being a cop is a dangerous job. Today in Louisiana, Police officers in Baton Rouge as well as New Orleans faced criminals who fired at them while they were attempted to escape being arrested.
Also released today is footage from a case in Knoxville where an 18-year-old male led an officer into a car chase, then got out and pulled a gun on him.
The Officer attempted to pull over the suspect because he was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen. The suspect started a high speed chase.
Dash cam video released today shows the suspect stop the vehicle, then fire a gun at the officer at the intersection of Washington Pike and Alice Bell Road. The officer sustained a bullet to his leg and survived the injury.
Today, Officer Olsen testified in court against Cameron Cook, 18, who is accused of committing the crime.
