Governor Bobby Jindal joined the fight to stop a new federal shellfish policy.
He sent a letter to the Food and Drug Administration to highlight the impact it would have on the Louisiana oyster industry.
The FDA wants to ban the sale of raw oysters, unless they're treated to kill potentially deadly bacteria.
In the letter, the Governor mentioned the financial impact this would have on the state's oyster industry. He also talked about the guidelines that are already in place to make sure people are eating safe oysters.
