Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — A National legend in Jazz music joins the LSU Jazz Ensemble tonight at the Manship Theatre for his premiere of "Quiet Pride".
Rufus Reid has recorded over a dozen albums, and has been playing with greats like Dexter Gordon and Eddie Harris for over 45 years.
Now, he'll use the talents of the LSU Jazz Ensemble to compose, "Quiet Pride", a five piece Jazz concert based on the works of American Artist Elizabeth Catlett.
"Well it's gonna be new music, music that no one's ever heard before, but I have to say I came up with some pretty melodies and pretty different rhythms," said Reid.
"Quiet Pride" plays at the Manship Theater at 7:30 tonight, February 28, and tomorrow February 29. Tickets for General Admission are $30, and $10 for students.
