BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Here in Louisiana, 31. 6 percent of adults are obese. That's why six people are stepping up with the help of NBC33 News. They will reach inside themselves to find the strength to finally get fit.
NBC33 News has partnered with Bally Total Fitness Baton Rouge to give the contestants a chance to work out with a personal trainer and lose the weight in a safe and healthy way.
As a group, they weigh in at a whopping 1,403 pounds.
For the next six months they will hit the gym, and NBC33 News producer Kris Cusanza will be among them.
They all gained the weight for different reasons but being fit for family seems to be the biggest motivator for this group.
The workouts will be tough and at times the trainers may feel like their worst enemy, but in the end they all know the trainers are there to help them get over fitness fears.
The first episode of Losing it in Louisiana airs tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 28 on NBC33 News at 10:00 p.m.
