BOSSIER, LA (KALB) — Construction on Bossier City's newest riverboat casino is under way.
Casino developer William Trotter says crews should finish the dirt work in three months, and construction on the hotel and casino barge will begin. Instead of physically being set in the Red River, Trotter says Margaritaville's riverboat casino would sit on a football field-size swimming pool containing water pumped from the river.
In August, the state gaming control board gave Bossier Casino Venture the green light to purchase Isle of Capri's Grand Palais Riverboat Inc. and transfer its gaming license to Bossier City. Bossier Casino Venture plans to sell the riverboat - currently docked near Lake Charles - and build a new barge at the casino site near the Louisiana Boardwalk.
