German leader gets 'beer bath' at political rally

NBC NATIONAL NEWS — German leader Angela Merkel got a big, cold surprise at a political rally in northeast Germany today and it was all caught on tape.

Merkel arrived at the rally, sat down and was being served a beer. As her waiter bent over to put her beer down, he accidentally tilted his tray and five beers washed down Merkel's back.

She closed her eyes, brushed some beer from her shoulder, then turned around and smiled at the waiter.

He said he was pushed.

Aides rushed to dry her off. She later toasted her party officials and then gave a rousing speech to the crowd.
