ST. AMANT, La (NBC33) — St. Amant community members have planned a memorial service for the two young girls killed in a car crash Tuesday night. They're holding a balloon release at the football field off of Highway 429 to honor Faith Castilaw, 9, and Patience Lobell, 7.
The two girls died when their mother's car swerved off of Stringer Bridge Road and careened into Black Bayou. Raelyn Encalade, 28, and two her daughters friends survived the crash. Her own daughters did not make it.
Now, folks from all over the community are invited to release pink and purple balloons into the sky on March 4th. That's happening at 3pm.
There will also be local speakers and first responders at the event. They're asking everyone to wear pink or purple. Those were the sisters' favorite colors.
