BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A massive open casting call is happening tomorrow for the first ever Baton Rouge-based MODE Fashion Week. Organizers tell us that you don’t have to have experience to walk this runway.
"I've coached girls who walked like giraffes to actually walk the runway," Anthony Ryan Auld, local fashion designer and organizer of the Baton Rouge Fashion Week, said with a laugh.
The former Project Runway contestant will seek out around 125 models (including males and females) to walk in the April fashion event.
The casting call is partnered with Scene Magazine because they're looking for models to be on the cover of their magazine, too.
Scene is seeking models who can double for celebrities. That’s because they will be recreating scenes from famous movies.
For example, they will be looking for someone who can double as Dustin Hoffman from “Rainman.” They note that the models they’re looking for do not have to be “runway thin.” So, if someone has told you that you look like someone famous, it would serve you well to show up.
"Every individual could be cast for a movie to make it realistic or for a photo shoot," Brinkley Maginnis, Casting Director and representative for Scene Magazine, noted.
Both Auld and Maginnis say that whether you're a pro, or just getting started, they want to see you at the Celtic Media Center on Bluebonnet on Saturday, Feb. 25.
"I really look for an individual look, so if it's something you're interested in, come out, it's worth a shot,” Auld explained. “You never know, you may just get casted for the magazine as well."
All you need to bring with you is a headshot with you to the casting call, which is being held from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Anthony Ryan says he’s looking for both male and female models. Male model measurements are very broad. For females, he says height is not a big factor, which is typically an issue in regards to runway fashion.
