SHREVEPORT, LA (KTAL) — A Louisiana man has been charged with Second Degree Murder in connection with the death of his one-year old little boy.
Investigators obtained an arrest warrant during the afternoon on Thursday, Feb. 23, charging Rodricus Crawford, 23, with one count of Second Degree murder in connection with the death of his one-year old son, Rodqrious Lott.
Authorities have been investigating the case since the morning of Feb. 16, 2012, when police were summoned to a home in the 6800 block of Broadway Avenue to assist the Shreveport Fire Department.
Upon arrival, officers contacted fire department personnel who reported they responded to a medical emergency at the home there and found Rodrqious unconscious and unresponsive. They subsequently transported the child to Willis-Knighton Medical Center on Greenwood Road where he was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives, working closely with officials from the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office as well as the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office, procured the arrest warrant based on information gathered and evidence recovered during the course of the ongoing investigation. Crawford, who was already incarcerated in the Caddo Correctional Center on unrelated charges, faces a $300,000 bond on the murder charge.
