SPRINGFIELD, LA (WDSU) — Officials on Wednesday afternoon shut down Tickfaw State Park due to concerns abour rising water on the Tickfaw River.
The park will remain closed until Monday, Feb. 27.
High water was already causing problems at the entrance to the park, in the campground and on trails. The main road was also under threat of flooding, as the river was expected to crest at 14 feet Wednesday night.
Officials hope the park closure will allow time for the water to abate.
