LOS ANGELES, CA (NBC33) — Former Louisiana Governor Buddy Roemer has not ended his presidential bid, but rather changing to a third-party ticket.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Roemer will make his plans official Thursday at a news conference in Santa Monica. This will take place in conjunction with a Republican debate scheduled at the same time, which he was excluded from participation.
Over the course of his campaign, Roemer has consistently been counted out of the debate process.
In his official announcement, Roemer will cite the exclusions as a large part of his reason for switching bids. Now, he’s seeking to run for the nomination for the Americans Elect, an independent party that plans to hold an Internet-based primary election across all 50 states to select its nominee.
